Death of my Hamster

Question
I had a Syrian Hamster for alittle over a year.
Two days ago I noticed it was crouched in a corner shaking. It had not
eatten. Yesterday it was still crouched in a corner shaking all day. It
died last night. It did have a lump for quite a while on the top of its
head. Could that have been the reason it died. It did not appear to be
sick prior to this and had no other symptons. I'm puzzled and feel bad I
couldn't help it.

I'm sorry to hear about your hamster.  I can't tell you exactly why your hamster might have died so suddenly, but from what you told me...
The 'lump' on its head was probably cancer, and I think that's the most likely cause of your hamster's death.  And if this was true, there wouldn't have been much you could have done to help it, so don't feel so bad.
