bleeding hamsters

I read your answer to the girl that was asking whether hamsters have periods. My hamster is also bleeding, you said that it could be a bladder infection so what to we do to help the hamster. We can not afford to take her to the vet.

Answer
It could be 1 of 2 things. The first is a bladder infection, and you wouldn't be able to help your hamster unless you took her to a vet to be put on antibiotics, which you said isn't an option.

The second is a possibility that may happen once or twice in a female hamsters life called spotting and should only last up to 2 days.

If the hamster is drinking alot more and showing additional signs of stress, it's more likely to be the infection, so make sure to keep an eye on her.
