How many day it take them to have babies.

And how can you tell when it is pregnant.

Hi Tyson,

For a Syrian hamster (the larger, more common type of hamster), a female will stay pregnant for 16 days (sometimes 17 or 18 days).

For a Dwarf hamster, the female will stay pregnant for 18-21 days.

Signs of pregnancy are the following: The female will build a large nest and store food in it.  Also, once she's been pregnant for about 10 days, her belly will be larger, and her nipples will be more noticeable.

A couple of days before your hamster is due to give birth, clean the cage and remove the wheel.  Fill the cage with plenty of Aspen or Carefresh bedding.  (Stay away from Pine and Cedar, which are dangerous to your hamster.  Also stay away from Bed Fluff.)  Also, don't touch the babies until they are 14 days old.
