Teddy Bear Hamster - 3mo

My daughter's hamster has a "weird sore" in the middle of her chest/stomach (?)- the skin looks unaffected but is raised all around a hole and on the side is a dark scab-like thing. the diameter would probably be getting close to 1/4 inch. It was just noticed today.  
Any idea what it might be?

Hi Mary,

It sounds like your daughter's hamster has an abscess, which is the buildup of pus around a bite or scratch wound.  Because the abscess will burst and most likely become infected, the hamster will need to be taken to the vet.  The vet should drain the abscess and prescribe antibiotics.
