Gerbil in bathe dust.

Question
I recently got a gerbil. It's just a baby. I adopted it but i don't know when it was exactly born. It looks like it is eating the chinchilla dust bath that i put in there. Also i don't know what it is? boy/girl ? They never told me, i asked and they said they didn't know..
Help please.

Hello, it sounds like your gerbil is being just a curious baby with eating the dust bath. It shouldn't harm him but make sure to take the dust bath out of the cage so he won't start messing in it. Do you have enough treats and goodies for your gerbil to gnaw on? They really like cherry and apple wood and other wood that are from pet stores. Here is a link to help you sex your gerbil. Also, never ever pick the gerbil up by the tail, it can lose its tail that way.
