Question
what do you look for in a hamster when you buy it?
is there any way of telling if a hamster has a good temperment?
if hamster starts of with a bad temperment can you fix it ?

Answer
Hi,
Look for clean, clear eyes with no residue or sleep. Make sure it does not have a runny nose or laboured breathing. It's coat should be glossy and have not mats. It's rear end should also be clean and free from poo or have a wet look to it. It's ears should also be erect. Look for any cuts or limping.
You can't tell, before handling them, what their temperament is like, but if he/she is aggressive doing correct training will wean him/her off it.
Never buy a hamster, even if it looks healthy, if others in the same cage do not. Also don't buy a hamster because you feel sorry for it.

Ask any more questions you wish.
Best of luck,
Kathryn
