Help! i think my gerbil has a caught an illness!

i had to gerbils but sadly one died a few days ago. She was about 3 years and just stated to slow down then one day she started struggling to breath i went to school and came back to find her dead. My dad had feed her food and offered her water all day and she had started to eat. When i got her out to preserve her in the fridge i noticed she had a strange scab in the middle of her stomach. My other gerbil also has this scab but its not as big its quite wet though. Does this mean that she has caught the illness? I still have the dead one in my fridge because i haven't got round to burrying her. Should i take both to the vets? Please help

Hello Billie,

Yes you must take them to thye vets as it does seem to suggest that whatever killed your first may be happening to your remaining gerbils also.
Whilst you wait to see the vet ensure that they are kept warm and have lots of bedding, food and water on offer!!
