sick hampster asking for a friend

I need some hamster help.. My hamster just came out of his house and he looks like crap. His face has loss so much hair and so has his body.. He doesnt look like the same hamster.  Also, he has scabs everywhere.. Does anyone know what this might be, and what can i do? I am very worried. Please help... Thanks

Oh my! It could be mange, mites, or a skin infection of some sort.

What type of bedding are you using for the hamster? Some types of wood bedding irritate the skin.

Can you see anything moving around in the cage or on the hamsters skin (i.e. tiny bugs)?

How often is the hamster's cage changed?

I urge you to get the hamster to the vet as quickly as possible. If it is mange/mites or a skin infection, you can not help the hamster without veterinary intervention.
