-----Question-----
my hamster mummy had already gave birth on 3-1-07. she have 3 babies. can i hold her? she look fierce.
-----Answer-----
No, leave her an the babies alone for 3-4 weeks.  Otherwise, you can stress her out and she may actually eat the babies.  The only time you should go in is to give more food/water and do a little spot cleaning if it's getting really dirty. After the babies' eyes open and they are moving about freely it should be fine to begin handling mom again as well as the babies.

Good luck and let me know if I can be of any more help,

Answer
If she gave birth on the 3rd, they should be able to eat solid food by now.  Try putting dry food within reach i.e. not in a dish they can't reach or some non-fish wet cat food in the cage.  If that's not working, you can go to a pet store and buy small animal milk replacement formula which you will need to feed them via syringe every 3-4 hours.  If you do this, go VERY SLOWLY as formula getting in the lungs can cause pnemonia and death.  Also, make sure to place a very shallow dish of water in the cage as the babies cannot reach a bottle.  Keep in mind that most hand-reared babies do not make it.

Good luck and let me know if I can be of any more help,
Lauren
