what is the changes of hammsters getting mites

him getting mites becuse i bort him from the pet store

Hi Elliott,

Actually, hamsters are more likely to get mites at their new homes, not from the pet store.  To keep your hamster from getting mites, make sure your other pets (cats, dogs, etc.) don't have mites, ticks, or fleas.  A lot of times, a cat or dog can give a hamster mites, since the mite is just looking for warm fur.  And, be sure to keep the cage clean by cleaning it once a week and filling it with plenty of Aspen or Carefresh bedding.  (Stay away from Pine and Cedar, which are dangerous to small animals.)
