Gerbil Cage Lock....

Hi...I just got 2 gerbils and am afraid of them escaping because I have a really big house. So, is it possible to put a small, circular, metal lock on the cage door preventing escape? Will it be in any way harmful for the gerbil?

From the inside of the cage, push the door gently. If it opens, it will do not harm, probably goo,d to put a small lock on it. If it doesn't, there is no need to lock the cage. Also make sure there are no gaps in the cage or anywhere they can escape. apart from that, all you can do it be vigilant and make sure no-one accidentally leaves the cage door open.
