Question
Hey, I have had a Chinese dwarf hamster for almost 2 years now and fear he might have tumors. He has always been extremely lively, and today his stomach/abdominal region is about 3x larger than usual and he hasn't been on his wheel much, is this a sign for tumors?

Answer
Hello Ally, has he been pooing lately. It sounds like a gas buildup or fluid buildup in his stomach region. You can try giving him a piece of strawberry and see if that releases his bowels. Also, your hamster is also very old. Two years is generally the max for dwarf hamsters it could also be because of old age and it may be his time soon. If the strawberry doesn't work you could try calling a vet and seeing if there is anything that can be done. I hope your hamster gets better. Good luck.
