Can the catch a cold

My hamster was heard sneezing in the night. Could she have a cold or pneumonia? Now she is just laying there, taking short deep breaths. She is not moving, either. What is it? what should I do?

hi missy,

yes hamsters catch colds (they can catch them from humans too) and it sounds like she has.

you need to get her to the vets immediately for antibiotic treatment, until you can put a bowl of water beside her, and keep her warm. keep a very close eye on her.
