Question
DEAR KELLY,
I AM DOING WHAT U TOLD ME TO DO SINCE THE LAST TIME WE SPOKE , I ONLY HAVE TWO CAGES AT THIS TIME SO WHAT I DID WAS PLACE THE FEMALE HAMSTER BACK WITH THE MALE INSTEAD OF LEAVING HER IN THE SAME CAGE AS THE BABIES , BUT NOW WHEN THE MALE & FEMALE ARE TOGETHER THEY GET ALONG FOR A WHILE BUT THEN START FIGHTING ...WHAT CAN I DO NOW SINCE MY MALE & FEMALE HAMSTERS DON'T GET ALONG ANY MORE ? WILL THEY EVER BE ABLE TO MATE AGAIN?....

Answer
Hi Keith,

Adult Syrian hamsters won't get along, no matter what.  Your two hamsters will just continue to fight.  You'll need to get a cage as soon as possible, to prevent serious injuries.  If you happen to have an empty aquarium, that would also work fine, as long as you put a well-ventilated top on it.

Your hamsters will be able to mate again, but while they're in the same cage, all they'll do is fight.  That's why it's so important to separate them as soon as possible.  In the future, when you want them to mate, you can place the female in the male's cage, or you can place them both in a neutral, just washed cage.  (*Never* place the male in the female's cage; she'll attack him.)  And, make sure the female is in heat before you decide to mate them.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask :)
