Dwarf Hamster Companionship

Question
I bought two sisters and they lived quite happily together. One of the died this morning. I was crushed. But I thought I should buy the remaining hamster, Casey, a new companion. Her new companion, Adriana, is albino. Adriana also lived with a sister. My friend took her sister. So she was only separated for a day maybe. When I put Adriana in the cage with Casey, they just kind of smelled each other a lot. Casey didn't fight, but Adriana half attacked Casey. Should I be worried? or should it be ok to let them live together?

Thank you so much for your help!

Answer
Dear Meghan,
thank you for your question.
Dwarf hamsters are, with very few exceptions, just as solitary as Syrian hamsters. Most of them live together for a few months, but then they start fighting and end up hurting or killing each other. Even when there's very little fighting, one hamster is always stressed because it's the inferior one and not allowed to eat, run, sleep ect. as it wants to.
It's next to impossible to get two hamsters that are not from the same litter or have known each other from a young age used to each other and I wouldn't even try. They are not lonely or bored living alone.
I hope I was of some help to you
