Hi,
It depends on which species of hamster it is.
If it is a dwarf species, they do well in single sex groups, so yes, they will benefit from it. They like to live in groups to play with each other, find food for each other and generally keep each other company.
If they are Syrian hamsters, they will kill each other. Syrians are solitary hamsters and will attempt (and usually succeed) in killing one another if placed in the same environment.
