Hamster chewing on tubing

Question
One of my siberian hamsters is consistently chewing on the tubing that runs between thier cages.  He has eaten almost an inch from the edge of one of the tubes, and has put holes in the rest of it.  Will be bitter lime you suggested to stop them from biting a hand work on tubes, but still allow them to crawl through it?

Answer
Hi Donna,

Yes, the Bitter Lime Spray or Gel would work great for this.  (In fact, I had to use it on my gerbils' tubing, and it got them to stop chewing on the tubes.)  Just take out the tubes and wash them, spray or rub the Bitter Lime on the tubes, let it dry, and place the tubes back in the cage.  If your hamster tries to chew on the tubes, he'll taste the Bitter Lime and be disgusted.  You'll most likely have to use the Bitter Lime a few times (maybe applying it once ever 2-3 days, since it wears off over time), but your hamster should soon learn, and stop biting the tubes.

Have a great weekend!
