Question about mom and baby gerbil

Question
Can a mother gerbil and her baby be kept in the same cage their whole life span?

Answer
If her pups are girls yes. If you keep a mother gerbil with her daughters and sons then they'll all breed and you'll be so overwhelmed with pups you won't know what to do. If there are any boys in the litter take them out but her daughters can stay with her.

At about the time the daughter pups reach 6 months of age keep an eye on them. Dominance becomes something they all will want. You may just need to separate them down to pairs and maybe trios if you can. If there's only the mom and a daughter or two they'll be fine.
