Question
My Little Man Constantine is eating happy and is not drinking excessively. He recently became a part of the family 3 Weeks ago.  He is genital and sweet but I notice a white discharge from his genitals and I don't sense infection in the smell, it is not green or he does not seem to react when I dispel of the substance.  Can you help?  I will take him to the vet but if there is some way I can help him, please let me know ASAP!

Thank you for your time and help!

Sarah

Answer
Hi Sarah,

Are you sure this is a male? Female hamsters will have a white discharge and put off an odor when they are in season (heat). This will happen every 4 days (it may very from 3-5 days).
A young male will also have a white discharge from time to time. This is because he is maturing. As long as he is eating, drinking, active and not squealing while he is urinating, I don't feel there is anything to worry about.
