how can i handle my hamster now?

hi
for Christmas i got a Syrian girl hamster .
i left it for the 1st couple of days like the pet shop said .
then after that i had been stroking her for a few days so i decided to have a go at holding her.
she was really fast and  jumped out my hands and ran under the bed.whenever i caught her she just jumped away but eventually after 2 hours i caught her .
now I'm worried about handling her because i think she'll escape also she has the adventure zone cage so its hard to catch her.i really want to hold her but I'm sure she'll escape as shes so fast
please could you tell me what to do

Hi Becky,

the only way to get her used to you is to handle her alot!

To do this safely without her escaping you could sit in an empy bath and let her crawl over you - this will get her used to you and will help her to become tamer.

But please remember that she is more scared of you than you of her, so just give her some time and let her get used to you.
