Answer
Hello,

I think doing what you are with her now, sounds fine!! She sounds happy enough!

Gerbils can occasionally get mites/fleas etc, and the sign of this is usually scratching (indicating eggs have been laid on/under the skin.) It is quite rare but i have seen case before. The soothing balm is good, however it is mean't more for sore patches of skin, such as a sore nose from chewing bars of the cage.

It is natural for Gerbils to scratch but, if you are concerned about the scratching the best bet is to see the vet just to be on the safe side. You can attempt to see for yourself, by checking under the fur for sore patches or scabs.

If you can see nothing, but are still concerned pop along to your vets!!

I hope this helps again!!

Thank you,
Charlie.
