hamsters how long do they and whan can you tell when they will die

Hi i have had my two hamsters for two years, and one on them are losing their hair,have a red spot, and not eating. My hamster look very ill and I'm so concerned about him and what should i do? He also have what appears to be lumps on his body.Is he going to die and can a hamster live for more than 24 months?

Hi Elaine,

hamsters can live upto three years and some hamster have been known to live longer too.

Your hamsters could already be 'elderly' as some hamsters do not live as long as others.

The conditions you describe could just be old age but to be on the safe side i would take him the vets just to make sure he doesnt have something which can be cured.
