QuestionI just rescued 4 gerbils yesterday from my barn. We assume someone came and let them loose assuming our cats would eat them. Thank goodness we saved the little guys. Anyway, one of the gerbils is pregnant and I am very sure she is due any day now. I am not sure if the male that was with the group is the father or not, and the other two are fairly young; both girls. Is it safe to leave to male in the same cage with the pregnant female? They did have a fight last night so I separated all of them today. Am I doing everything right?
AnswerHi Ash,
I would personally seperate the male from the female because the male will mate with her after she has her babies and unless you want more gerbils I'd certainly seperate them. The male gerbil can help raise the pups if you decide to keep them together.
