URGENT, care for newborn orphan gerbil

Question
My gerbils just had a newborn baby(just 1 pup) on Sat 5-6.  Last night I just found out that the mommy gerbil just died and so only daddy and baby left.  I don't know how to care for the baby(he's 4 days old) and have no idea if he'll survive without care from mom.  The dad is pretty good in term of keep the baby warm and protect the baby but he can't feed the baby since he don't have milk.  Please advice how can I take care of the baby gerbil.

Answer
Okay don't panic. That's my job lol. Okay are you ready to take on the care of being a full time mommy to the gerbil for at least 26 days?? If you are then here is everything you need to know on how to take care of her. I hope she survives and does okay since it will be pretty hard. Since she only had one you will have to feed the baby every few hours. I would start feeding her every 1-2 hours for optimum nutrition. Can you get to a petstore?? You need to buy some formula. If you can't get to a petstore get some baby formula and use double the reccomended concentration. They like it rich. If you are able to go to a store like petsmart go to the kitten section and buy KMR milk replacement. Also look for some bottles and nipples in the kitten area. If you can find any bottles or nipples that are small, look for a syringe small enough to fit in the pets mouth. Sometimes they will carry a pack of bottles and different nipple sizes. Okay, once you have formula and bottles with a tip small enough to fit in their mouth gently scoop the pup and start slowly feeding her the milk. At about 15 days her eyes will open once her eyes open start putting some food into the nest the baby stays in and start feeding her every 4 hours or so until about 26-30 days. If you do not feel comfortable picking up the pup then try to feed her in the cage. Lift the top up and try that way. Don't change any of the bedding or anything for about two weeks since the baby gerbil needs the scents to make her feel comfortable. The father will try to do the best he can with the pup since the mom is not there. Let him try to help out too :-). If you know any friend that has a female gerbil who has given birth you can place your baby gerbil into the litter and the mom should take her as one of her own. If you need me I'll be here. Also if you are having trouble finding anything that will fit into the gerbils mouth call a vet and ask if they have anything they can fit into the babies mouth. Good luck and keep me posted :-).
