my 2 gerbils are about 5 mo old and i have a problem: how do i tell if they are boys or girls or 1 of each?

Hi Quinn,

If you are not experienced at sexing gerbils you may find it quite hard, but i will do my best to explain. You need to try and firstly hold them so they can not wriggle and escape, this is the hardest part. If you can grasp them so that your thumb and another finger is in front of their front legs this will stop them being able to get away. Then you can look, the following link will show you a picture of a male and a female, and this should help you sex them:
