Question
hi, sorry i know you deal with hampster question but their are no gebil experts currently registered.
i was wondering why my gerbils wont stop chewing plastic toys in their cage. We put wood in their cage to stop their teeth getting to long and they have mineral chews, but they are ignoring these. So far they have destroyed a seesaw, a wheel and their house. i was wondering if there was anything you could suggest to stop them chewing the plastic?
thank you

Answer
Hi Gnomie,

From what I have read on gerbils, they chew on everything to help keep their teeth short (because their teeth grow non stop.
But to help keep them from chewing on their wheel or other things, you might try rubbing lemon juice on them.

Thank you for writing and I hope this helps.
