i didnt keep time of wen my gerbil got preginent so i was just wonderin wat kind of sighns should i be lookin 4 besides sleepin alot like will she drink extra water and wen u tell me how far along does that sighn mean she is. well she is realy fat 2 lol

Hi Britney,

The length of time that a gerbil is pregnant is about 24 days, so try and think of when your gerbil could have gotten pregnant.  A pregnant gerbil will not "show" her pregnancy until a few days before the birth, so your gerbil may be pretty close to having babies.  She will start to drink more water, and she'll begin making a large nest, usually in a corner of her cage.  Make sure she has plenty of fresh water, and remove her wheel so the new babies won't be hurt.  When the babies are born, do not touch them for a week.  Also, don't change anything about the cage after the babies are born.  And don't separate the father from the mother and the babies.  The father gerbil helps raise the babies.
