Month old baby gerbil very sick

Question
MY gerbil had a litter or 6 gerbils 4 weeks ago. Yesterday I noticed what I assumed to be the runt to be kind of quiet. Today I picked her up and thought she was dead but she was barely breathing so I gave her some chocolate milk (I did not have any regular) -she is tiny and just all fur you can feel every bone in her body but her stomach is extended and bloated.  She went after the chocolate milk like crazy but did not drink a ton. I have her away from the others because I just think the mom is not feeding her (she was asleep next to the dad and the mom was in the little house with the other 5. I have her under a warm animal lamp to keep her warm.  COuld you have any ideas for her.  She is very weak and just the sweetest little thing. I am doing all I can. SHe would not eat any oatmeal with water - only the chocolate milk.  Thank you so much for your help!

Answer
Hello, awww poor thing. What you are doing is great, the chocolate milk was probably okay for now since you didn't have anything and she needed something. Go to petsmart or petco or any type of pet store and buy some KMR milk. It's kitten milk, if you can't go to the petstore go to a grocery store and pick up some baby formula. Double the amount that it says on the bottle and feed that to the gerbil. Make it warm so they will take. This is the best that you can do. Also, you will need to get the gerbil to use the bathroom since she probably can't do it on her own right now. What you will need to do is to get a paper towel and rub the bottom of the gerbil to stimulate it to use the bathroom. You will need to this for her. I know it's kinda weird but gently rubbing the bottom will cause her to go to the bathroom. Good luck and keep me posted.
