my hamster just had babies and if i keep a female and a male if they have babies will they look alright bc they are brother and sister and could a mom and her son have babies and the dad and the daughter have babies thank u hope u can help me

hi alyss,

yes hamsters can and will mate with immediate family, mom and dad will probably mate again in the next couple of months, brother sister, mom and dad will mate when the babies get to about 6 - 8 weeks, i dont think the genetics wil be effected, ie deformities etc, and these only occur if you inbreed hamsters that have deformities, but you should probably let mom and dad have a seperate litter and allow only brothers and sisters to mate if you are going to breed, again im not exactly sure about this but this link:
