QUESTION: We just bought one lastnight at a pet store petsmart.All it is doing is sleeping is this normal. It is about 1 year old or that is what they told us. looking to hear from you soon Randy.

    When bringing a new hamster home, you should leave him/her alone for a few days (just make sure they have food and water) so that they can get used to their new cage and surroundings. After the few days, he/she should start being more active.
    If he/she does not become more active, then write me back. Also let me know how he/she is eating and drinking.

QUESTION: He is eating fine, but he is not drinking alot of water.He wakes up gets something to eat then goes back to sleep,during the day. But i guess he is more active at night,like a cat.Thank you .

    Hamsters are nocturnal, which means they sleep during the day and are active at night. They may get up during the day to get something to eat and go potty though. It seems your hamster is acting very normal for his age and I don't feel there is nothing to worry about.
