Question
my Syrian hamster just died and i am planning on getting another one. i am 13 and i have had three Syrian hamsters in the past. the last hamster i had could not be picked up or stroked because she would bite you if you went near her when i first got her, but then i tamed her and taught her to do tricks on command. i would love another hammy that i could train to do tricks and i have a dwarf hamster cage but i don't know weather to get a Syrian or a dwarf. what ever i get needs enjoy being handled and fit into a reasonably sized dwarf cage. can you help me?

Answer
Hi Emily,

If you want another hamster which will do tricks and become tame then i suggest you get another Syrian, but you will need to get a new cage too, one big enough for a Syrian.

Dwarf hamsters can become very tame too and can also be trained to do tricks but they are best kept in pairs - which sometimes makes it a little harder for them to become as tame as syrians because they tend to bond more with their cage mate than with a human.

Good Luck.

Kind Regards,

Tammy
