Hamster Balls

Question
Hi,
I have read in a book that hamster balls are not safe and are actually scary for the animal, but others have said they are. I was wondering what you thought. Thanks!

Answer
I agree with the book that says they are scary, how would you like to be enclosed in a ball and told to "explore in it?" A hamsters brain tells it to explore and roam, and that ball only hinders the hamsters natural instincts. There are plenty of other ways for hamsters to exersize. For instance, let your hamster roam without a ball, but keep a sharp eye on it so it doesnt climb into tight spots. Also wheels are great ideas, hamsters love to run on them, and they do it of thier own free will. I hope you take my advice and use your money on a better gift for your hamster. Good Luck!
