my 1st hamster

i just bought a hamster 2 days ago. i really never had a hamster and i want to know the right bedding and food to buy my hamster! im pretty sure its a girl cause it looks like niples wen she stands up! i also want to know that kind of hamster she is i asked the petstore int he mall and all they said was she was a shorthair hamster! my hamster is a golden color and is short hair! i know its a lot of questions but i jus want the best for my hamster please help!

First off your hamster is a syrian hamster. The only other type would be a dwarf hamser, and they aren't classified as short or long haired. Get aspen wood shavings for bedding. You can also used the recycled cardboard bedding. Just don't use any other wood beddings since they have more oils in them then the aspen does. Oils can hurt your hamster's lungs, so just stick to aspen. As far as food goes just make sure it has a nice mixture of dried fruits, seeds, colorful crunchies, and not just one type of ingredient. I buy the bulk food at Pet Supplies Plus called Mardi Gras blend, its got everything in it a hamster could want.
