bloodied eyes

Question
I have two gerbils who are 2 years old.One of them has bloodied eyes-they look quite sore.I have tried to bathe them with warm water but she is wincing when I try.Have you any suggestion as to what may be wrong with her.

Hi Anne,

Is it like a reddish thing around the eyes? This is not blood, they are just tears and it is a sign the gerbil isn't feeling great, it can also be down to old age, and the effects of that.
The best thing you can do is pop him to the vets for a quick general check up to make sure there are no underlying problems. Other than this all you can do is make sure he is eating and drinking as normal, and make sure he is kept warm!!
