why is ceder bedding so bad for hamsters im scared now will my hamster like die before 2 yrs or something please help me!!!!

Hi Alissa,

Cedar bedding, as well as Pine, are dangerous to small animals because they have very strong aromatic oils (to control smells).  These aromatic oils frequently give hamsters respiratory infections and skin allergies.  So, it's best to stick to safe beddings, such as Carefresh and Aspen.

As soon as you can, you should switch to Aspen or Carefresh.  As long as your hamster doesn't wheeze or have flaky skin, you shouldn't have anything to worry about.  Like I said, just switch as soon as you can.
