Three Baby hamsters and Mama Lost

Question
QUESTION: Our Three baby hamsters and their Mama are missing.  I don't know how they got out of their cage because both doors on the cage were closed. Also the other four baby hamsters are still in the cage. We keep them in our utility room the  with the door closed, but the only bad thing is we have our air conditioning unit in there to, and behind that there is holes in the wall. We looked up in the attic to see if they could have ventured up in there, but there was so much insulation up there it would be nearly impossibe to find them.  We also live in an apt. complex, so we thought that maybe they could have went into their apt.  We did ask them to keep an eye out for them.  My husband went in there to check on the other babies and saw Tex (one of the missing babies) poke his head out behind the air conditioning unit, but he didn't come out. The space behind the unit is so small so we can't get behind it.  We put the four babies in another cage and kept the big cage opened with some CHEESE in the doorway, and also made a path with cheese to the cage.  Is there anything else you could think of that would bring them back?  We have all the lights out, the tv is down low, and it's 3:32am.

ANSWER: Hi Amanda,

If the babies are less then 10 days old then I am afraid to tell you that they are most likely dead. How old are the babies? Unfortunately, I cannot help you further without the age.

Sam

QUESTION: 16 DAYS OLD..ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED...ALSO AT WHAT AGE CAN HAMSTERS REPRODUCE..THIS IS ALSO A CONCERN BECAUSE WE ARE NOT SURE OF THE SEX OF THEM

THANK YOU
AMANDA

Answer
Hi again Amanda,

I would search every nook and cranny of your hosue to find them. Look under cabinets for any holes/openings that they could've got into. They can reproduce at this age so it may be best to seperate boys and girls. I hope you find them. GOOD LUCK!

Sam
