gerbil pregnancy

is there any early simptoms of pregnancy if you havent seen them mate as my female gerbil keeps sleeping loads and im not sure if she is pregnant or not i would b gratefull if you could help me

Hello! How are you?? First of all how old is your gerbil? Generally old gerbils will sleep more. My hamster sleeps all day and all night. Nothing is wrong with him he's just lazy. A lot of small and furry animals will sleep a lot just because. Even though you see her sleeping a lot doesn't mean she isn't active when you're asleep. My hamster prefers to wait until I'm asleep to be active. When I wake up really early he's in his wheel just running away. If your gerbil is pregnant you will notice weight gain and she will look a little round if you see her from the top. Place the gerbil in your hand if her belly looks a little round and not fat chances are she is either pregnant or fat lol. If you have a male with her chances are very high she's pregnant. they can stay pregant for 25-28 days. If she keeps sleeping and doesn't feel warm to you and is losing weight take her to a vet because she may be sick. Good luck and keep me posted!
