Sexing hamsters/introducing hamsters

Question
hi its me again
I have asked you a couple of questions before and you have always been very helpful. I have two seperate groups of robovski hamsters, i have managed to merge two pairs before but now have a fifth (a former wet tale suvivor who i asked you about before)who has been living close to them but serperated, he has been free of it for a good while now and i have slowly beeen introducing them to one another with dividers and the like, this was originally how i was going to leave it because the pet shop told me that he was a male and the others i was told were female. the other day i was checking his bits and he looks like a she. I know i shouldnt have done this but i placed him in with the girls in a neutral ground mixed in with both of their beddings to see what he did, because they have been able to see and smell each other for so long they got on fine, there was no attempt to hump, no fighting, just the occasional grooming of each other, because i know they all get on i would rather give them all a larger home than two smaller homes, the only reason why i was keeping them apart was because i didnt want babies. I have since placed him (currently supervised) in the girls home and again they are all getting on happy as larry we no fighting or humping they just roam around doing there thing and occasonally grioom one another. they all have a lump about a cemtimeter away from the anus, its  the same size and same shape etc, so my big question is, is he a girl, i wont keep hiom in wit them unsupervized until i can know for certain,
thanks for reading
Sam

Answer

Sexing hamsters
Hello Sam,
Glad I could help with your other questions, though I wouldn't be able to tell you the gender unless I were there to sex him and even then it is never guaranteed. Your local pet store could be able to sex them for you but they are not professionals either. Robovski's are the most difficult to sex in my opinion, because they seem to all look the same. They do not seem to breed as often in my opinion so you may have a male who just isn't interested in breeding. If you want you can try keeping them together but a vet would probably be the only one who could tell them apart. You might try looking online for pictures that will help you but because of how small they are this may be of no use.

Good luck,
Lorelei
