Answer
Hi Nicole,

First, make sure that your hamster has plenty of chew toys to file down his teeth.  Chew sticks made for hamsters are cheap and available at pet stores and Walmart.  You may also want to try a vegetable wheel.  Hamsters love it, and it's cheap (also available at pet stores and maybe Walmart).  Also, you can buy a wooden house for hamsters, such as those by S.A.M.  Hamsters love the houses to sleep in, and they can also chew on them.

If your hamster is chewing on any wire parts, you'll want to stop that immediately, because chewing on wire is unhealthy for a hamster's mouth and nose.  Buy Bitter Lime Spray/Gel at your pet store.  You'll probably find it in the ferret section, but it's safe for all small animals, and it's around 5 or 6 dollars.  Spray or rub it on any parts of the cage that your hamster is chewing on.  If he tries to bite the cage, he'll taste the bitter lime and be disgusted.  You may have to use the spray/gel a few times, but your hamster will soon get the idea.

Have a great weekend!

If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask :)
