Why does my hamster stink?  Is he sick?

Hello, hamsters actually only stink when they are sick, generally from wettail or diarrhea. You can tell if they have wettail by looking at the bottom and if it's wet you should really take them to a vet for antibiotics or you can purchase dritail which you can find at any petstore. Hamsters actually don't stink, they are really good at keeping their fur clean and generally it's the cage that stinks and the hamster does have a habit to use the bathroom in the same spot so that spot should be cleaned more often than one week. Hamsters like a clean a cage and they keep themselves fairly clean by constant grooming.
