Hampter eyes closed up

Question
Yesterday, my sons hampsters one eye seemed dry and then completed closed. It was like the eye ball disappeared, she seemed like she was unsteady but still ran the wheel and the tube for short times. Now her other eye is shut and is lying on her side breathing hard and shaking.
She is approx. 2 years old.
Do you know whats wrong?

Hi Sandy,

It sounds like your son's hamster is very ill.  When hamsters become ill, they can deteriorate rapidly, and you need to bring it to a vet *immediately*.  Only your vet can properly diagnose and treat the hamster.  Good luck.
