iv recently just bought a new hamster not even a month ago and wen i went to my room just now she was lying in the middle of her cage not movin!so i woke her up and she just layed there and looked at me, i encouraged her to walk and when she did she would take a few wobbely steps and lay down again!i picked her up and she started to bight the palm of my hand (not hard just a kind of nibble)i put her back and gave her a bit of lettice which she tryed to eat but couldnt seam to bite of any!i dont feed her any thing i shouldnt and she always has accsess to clean water and fresh food and shes cleaned out regulary!
she is a very active hamster (sometimes almost hyperactive)
and always climbs hes bars and runs on her wheel!
please could u give me some advise as she a very sweet and young lady and it would b a shame to loose her so soon!

Hi Sammi,

 I feel this could be one of two things. She could have gotten hurt by climbing on the bars (by falling or getting her leg/s caught in the bars). Although hamsters love these type of cages, I believe they are dangerous. If she has hurt her leg/s, it will take time for her to mend. It may take up to 3-4 weeks before you see an improvement in her activity. Make sure she has food and water close to her.
 She could of also had a stroke. Although strokes are more common in older hamsters, it does sometimes happen to younger ones. There really isn't anything that can be done for this. Just rest for your hamster, she may come out of it or she may not. With her wobbling and laying down again, I am leaning more towards this.
 If your hamster stops eating or drinking, I would suggest taking her to a vet as soon as possible.
