Do hamsters need salt wheels?

Hi,
I never use them, because all my hamsters never gave theirs so much as a lick. If your hamster starts licking your fingers, it might be a good idea to offer him a salt wheel, but with a proper diet this shouldn't happen.
Equally useless and even dangerous are those mineral stones, that are said to provide the hamster with calcium. They can cause kidney stones.
