Skiddish Hamster

Question
My female hamster has always been very active. We put her in an exercise ball so she can socialize with the other animals and get around the house. Today, her ball came apart and one of the dogs tried to play with her the way he played with the cats when they were newborns. He had her pinned to the ground and then when he let go, she took off and hid. We finally found her, but now all she wants to do is sleep and won't eat or even touch any treats. She just goes to the corner of the cage and tucks her head. Will she go back to being active and friendly, or is she going to possibly die?

Any help would be great!

Thanks!

Answer
The hamster is just very stressed out at the moment. This is why I tell owners to never use those plastic balls. In reality, the hamster panics when in the ball and searches for a way out, even if the hamster appears to not be stressing. My hamster freezes as soon as he hears the dogs bark. Just try hand feeding the hamster and not making any sudden movements to reasure it. Try giving special treats too, like fresh fruits and veggies. The hamster should return to normal in a few days. I would reccomend not using hamster balls in the future.
