Question
hi tammy i hope you remember me i wrote about my hamster having had 2 babies  and one was born with three legs, well there both doing fine they are 25 days old today and we handle them every day, i wonder when do i take them away from mum? i have cages ready but 1 baby is a girl and the other a boy so can i take mum away and leave the two babies together for a couple of days to get over there mum going? then put the babies in seperate cages, i think i feel worse about taking them from mum than she will hahaha      thanks  netty

Answer
Hi Netty,

i am so glad they are both doing ok.

At the age of four weeks Syrian hamsters are able to breed so please make sure that the male baby is separated from his mother and his sister at before 28 days.

It will be fine to keep them all separately once the babies reach 28 days too.

The mother will probably be pleased to have some peace and quite, lol!

Kind Regards,

Tammy
