Wet Tail + Lump on stomach

Question
Firstly, I must say what a fantastic website this is.

My question is that we bought a hamster 2 months ago and she has been very lively and gained a lot of weight in those 2 months.  However, she recently had a loss of appetite and starting to lose fur on her tail.  We took her to the vet and the vet said it was nothing, but the symptoms got worse so we took her back and she was diagnosed as having the infamous 'Wet Tail'.  We were given medication for her and fed her medication for a week, he poo is still mushy but have gained the correct shape i.e. (sausage shape) I have been reading up about this viral infection and it seems like we have to clean infected areas she has had contact with.  Does this imply that we have to clean it everyday when she is recovering?

So the question is, is there anything we can do to help her?  Any special food we can feed her or anything we can do?

Plus recently, we have discovered she has a lump on her stomach, hopefully this does not indicate cancer.  We will take her to the vent tomorrow to confirm.

Answer
hi shui,

you can try and give her honey and luke warm, pre-boiled milk. this is known to boost her immune system, and yes i think it would be best to clean out her cage everytime shes out of it whilst she ill, it will reduce the risk further of her catching it again.

thank you for your questions, ask again in you need to, good luck and let me know how you get on.
