Question
hi! recently, me and my bf got a syrian male hamster.  He's very shy and mild.  Today, we were intending to adopt two 2 female white-faced roborovski hamsters to keep him company (and also to make sure those two girls get a good home with us)

but we started getting a little worried when reading up on syrian and roborovski facts.

do u think we should adopt the girls? we don't know if they'll start fighting...

also, if we do get the girls (but decide to put them in a different cage), will they be able to squeeze thru a 1cm wide fencing of a cage?  Cuz i read that they need alot of space to run about and i was hoping to keep them in a big rabbit cage.

thanx alot for your help!

Answer
Hello, If you adopt the two female hamsters keep them away from the syrian hamster. A fight is probably going to happen since they are two different types. As far as the spacing goes they probably would be able to get through a 1cm wide fencing of a cage, or at least get stuck trying to. It's surprising what they can escape from. :-) As far as adopting them and giving them a good home, if you can do it I say go for it!! You know a critter trail 3 cage is really big for two dwarf hamsters. My winter white hamster is in a crittertrail 3 and I was shocked to see how big it was. You can always attach other homes to it and make a hamster utopia!!! I want to do that with choobles but all he does is sleep. I think you would make a great pet parant for them and they would have a warm cozy place to place and get lots of treats. :-)
