My gerbils eye wont open and is sleeping alot

My gerbil, Lil' Bo, I don't know what kind he is, is very active loves his wheel and tube, but I looked in his cage one day and he wouldn't open 1 eye, his right I believe. I looked at some other questions on this websites and your answers and most of them matched my gerbil's behavior. He has a ring of what looks like black crust around his eye and is sleeping way more than he used to. He gets up and moves, but only if you wake him up then he will just move his back legs barely and then go back to sleep. Neither of my 2 gerbils are drinking water and Lil' Bo is barely eating. Why is this? Is he dying like someone answered in one question or does he have a cold like another answer or is this just something they all do? Can you help me?

Hello, hmmmm if you are unable to get to a vet go to a pet store and go to the bird aisle and buy some Ornacycline. It's an antibiotic that you could try if you are unalbe to take them to a vet. Your gerbils are just really sick and they could die if they aren't treated for their illnesses. He does have a cold as well as an eye infection and both of them seem to have a cold or pnemonia. The vet is the best thing to do right now. Please keep me posted on what happens.
