Hampster/Gerbil bite

Unfortunately I do not know whether it was even a hampster or a gerbil, never mind the type it was.  My sister is looking after a friends hampster/gerbil and it bit her.  She said it hurt.  My concern is that the bit could be serious.  Is it common for them to bite and if so is it serious.  Should she be worried or concerned about disease and if so should she see a doctor?

Hello. Don't be concerned about the bite. Hamsters and gerbils constantly bite, it's normal. Just wash the bite to keep it clean and she will be fine. I've been bitten dozens of times by my hamster and hamsters at work and nothing bad has happaned to me. Don't be worried about any diseases what so ever. Good Luck :-)
