Male does not knot

We have tried to breed my 2 1/2 year old female.  The male is experienced and is mounting her repeatedly.  But he does not lock inside of her.  It happened 4 days ago and about 15 times today.  What should I do.  She has been in heat for 10 - 12 days.

What you can do is sit on the floor and hold the female across your legs.  Use your knees to raise and lower her (it works best with your back against a wall).

Bring the male around the business end and encourage him to mount the female.  When he enter, hold him into place until the tie occurs.

On a side note. 15 times trying without success is detrimental to both the male and female.  The male will become frustrated and give up, he loses all the "good stuff" and it exhausts him.

Best to keep them separated and them together 15 - 10 minutes at a time and then separate them again.
